Abu Dhabi, February 20 – MIM driver David Vidales wrapped up his one-time effort in the Asian F3 series by taking fifth place in the second event of the weekend which concluded the season. His team-mate, Guanyu Zhou, clinched a last-minute championship win and Vidales’ points contributed to Abu Dhabi Racing by Prema also topping the Team’s final classification. David’s second race of the weekend was not as lucky, though, as a contact with another car in the early stages dropped him back seven positions when he was running sixth, after starting from second row. He eventually went on to overtake another competitor and ended up in 12th place. Overall, Vidales had four point finishes out of six races he competed in (plus a 4th place being taken away by a penalty): a solid result for a driver who had joined the series for the last two rounds only, and was up to drivers who already compete full-time in the FIA F2 championship. The experience in the Middle East was unvaluable for Vidales to collect some mileage and will certainly boost his performance ahead of the F.Regional European Championship by Alpine, which remains his main focus in 2021.
