MIM Driver takes 2nd and 3rd place at Magny-Cours weekend
Magny-Cours, September 12-13 – Monaco Increase Management driver David Vidales only joined the Eurocup F.Renault on the second round of the calendar: nevertheless, after clinching five podium finishes (with two wins) out of six races, he ranks third in the point standings with 102 points to his credit, and is by far the best rookie driver of the championship. The long weekend at Magny-Cours confirmed his skills, as he scored a second and a third place in the double event on the challenging French circuit.
David qualified P3 in both sessions, the first of which determines the starting grid for Race-2, while the second makes up the starting order for the first race. On Saturday, a brilliant start enabled Vidales to battle with Victor Martins for second in the first corners. He managed to get his JD Motorsport Tatuus car right behind race leader Caio Collet, fending off every attempt from Martins, and stayed like this to the chequered flag. Race-2, on Sunday late afternoon, proved to be a more complicated affair: the event had a flying start behind the Safety Car, which makes overtaking even more difficult, and Vidales managed to keep his grid position to the end, in a race that was marred by incidents with two caution periods.
“Today” said the 18-year old Spaniard on Sunday – the guys in front had a better pace and all I could do was trying to put some pressure on them and force them into a mistake, but it just did not happen. Still, I am happy with the result, as I can see that we are growing step by step and I am very confident for the next races”.
