VIDALES AIMING FOR THE TOP SLOTS IN FANATEC GT CLASSIC AT THE NÜRBURGING

Jul 26, 2024

David Vidales will be back on track this weekend at the fabled Nürburgring circuit in Germany for the third round of the Fanatec GT World Challenge Europe Endurance Cup powered by AWS.

Exactly one month on from his outstanding performance in the rain at Spa-Francorchamps (Belgium) with the AF Corse – Francorchamps Motors Ferrari 296 GT3, especially during the challenging night hours, the Monaco Increase Management contracted driver hopes to continue that progress on the 17-turn, 5.137 km circuit in the heart of the Eifel mountains.

The race will be a three-hour encounter for the 50-car field, and the young Spaniard – paired with Thomas Neubauer from France and Vincent Abril from Monaco – will be counting on his past experience at the circuit, his good performance at Spa, and a recent one-day test at Mugello (Italy), in which he impressed with some spectacular lap times, to take him through the weekend and score more points in what is his rookie year in GT racing.

“Its always nice to be on track in the race weekends. I only have five this year so that makes all of them very special, especially here at the Nürburgring which is an epic track and a legendary place,” declared David. “The weather is looking wet with Sunday dry but a weekend like Spa for the changing conditions and the track itself is always challenging. We did two days’ testing here at the beginning of the year, but the last time I raced here was four years ago with Formula Renault, where I did podiums so I have good memories. I’m really looking forward to Sunday, hopefully it’s as good as the last time I was here. The goal is always winning, we showed very good speed in qualifying and we can fight for pole position at Spa, we have a good team and a great car, we’ll see how the BoP for qualifying is, because that will be important for the performance of everyone, but I’m sure we can really fight for the top steps, qualify well and take as many points as possible for the team and the championship.”

The Nürburgring three-hour race takes place on Sunday from 15:00 to 18:00 (CEST), with Qualifying in the morning from 08:45 onwards, and Practice and Pre-Qualifying on the Saturday.
