Monaco, September 26 – After a difficult late summer, MIM driver David Vidales came back strongly on his home turf by taking second place in the first race of the Formula Regional by Alpine round 8 at Valencia; and on Sunday, the 19-year old Spaniard confirmed to have lost none of his speed with a fifth place in Race-2 which earned him 10 more points, bringing his total to 86 and qualifying him as the best-performing among Prema Powerteam drivers. An early sign came already on Saturday morning, with Vidales clinching the front row of the grid in the first qualifying session. In the race, he put pressure on Colapinto at the start and in the final stages. Unfortunately, the Ricardo Tormo circuit is notoriously impervious to overtaking and positions at the front were frozen throughout the race. Vidales took his revenge at the start of the Sunday event, jumping from seventh to fifth with one of his signature blitzing start and maintaining the position till the chequered flag. The series now moves to Italy for the final two rounds at Mugello and Monza.
