Dubai, February 14 – MIM driver David Vidales wrapped up in style his first ever round of the Asian F3 series by clinching second place in the third and final race of the weekend at Dubai Grand Prix circuit. Racing for Abu Dhabi by Prema, Vidales started from sixth place on the grid, but as the lights turned out, he took advantage of a slow start from the drivers ahead of him to jump four positions in a matter of seconds. He then trailed series Pierre-Louis Chovet through the end of the accident-marred event, which was stopped with the red flag following a contact. When the race resumed, Vidales managed to fend off an attack from Patrick Pasma and drove undisturbed to the chequered flag. Had it not been for yesterday’s 5 seconds penalty (which affected him most because all drivers were packed behind the safety car through the finish line), David could have taken points in all three races of his first ever F3 event (actually, his 10th place in Race 1 was promoted to ninth following another driver’s penalty). Nevertheless, he has proved to be right there with more experienced drivers and now is looking ahead to the final round in Abu Dhabi.
