Monaco Increase Management driver David Vidales couldn’t have hoped for a better start to his adventure as a Super Formula Lights in Japan with team B-Max. At the end of a two-day official testing session on the ever challenging GP track of Suzuka, the 20-years old from Leon, Spain, came out as the fastest of the twelve drivers who took part in the test. Vidales drove his #51 Spiess-powered Dallara to a best lap time of 1min51sec939, more than one tenth of a second faster than second-placed Syun Koide and over half a second over second-best B-Max driver Iori Kimura. In the third and final session on the 5.9 Kilometer track, Vidales ran a total of 37 laps, his best performance coming on lap 34.
“I am really happy with this result – said Vidales – and with all the good team work we put together. The previous session had not been so straightforward but we worked on it, dialing out the issues, and we had a very good car for the last session. We tried different things in this test and we think that we found the best way to make those new tires work”.
The next official test session is scheduled in May right before the championship’s first round at Autopolis, but team B-max may plan an additional testing before that date.
